Technical University of Munich (TUM): W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate/Full Professor; to begin as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

The professorship will be given to the Technical University of Munich (TUM) School of Engineering and Design’s Department of Aerospace and Geodesy. Together with mentoring early-career scientists, the duties also involve research and teaching. The position of expert in the field of astrodynamics research is sought, with a focus on the study and development of astrodynamics fundamentals, interplanetary navigation, satellite operations, and spacecraft trajectory design and optimization for cutting-edge mission concepts like Earth observation, satellite communications, and space exploration. Courses at the university’s bachelor’s and master’s programs are part of the teaching duties.

Qualifications

Regarding the appropriate career level, we are seeking applicants who have shown outstanding accomplishments in research and teaching in a globally renowned scientific setting (for more details, visit www.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/). Prerequisites include a bachelor’s degree, an exceptional Ph.D. degree, or an equivalent scientific competence, along with instructional aptitude. Significant overseas research experience is required.
